Step
1
On a table, place the new curtain over the well compartment. Be sure the
zipper tab faces downward so that you can operate the zipper from the
inside of the car. Start with the center punch-outs on the curtain and
match to the center punch-outs on the trim stick. Tack the curtain
securely on each side of the punch outs. Stretch the material to the
next punch cuts so that there are no wrinkles in the flexible plastic
and tack on each side of the punch-outs. A piece of metal can be held
underneath the trim stick for easier tacking.
Complete one half first and then the other half in same manner. Tack the
quarter webbing to the trim stick between the marks previously made.
Tack the curtain to the trim sticks between each of the punch-outs.
Step 2
Place the curtain and the well compartment assembly on inside of the
car. Spot tack the top of the curtain to the rear bow with a few tacks.
This is merely to hold the curtain temporarily and prevent scratches.
These tacks will be removed after the assembly has been bolted to the
car. On the inside of the car and underneath the well compartment,
attach the end phillips screw first. With a pointed tool, locate the
holes in the car body to find position. This will center the trim stick
to the body of the car. On the opposite side, attach the last hex-head
machine bolt. With a pointed tool, find the exact location on the car
body. This will pull the trim stick into position so that the end
phillips screw can be installed. It is advisable to put in all of the
hex-head machine bolts that hold the well compartment assembly and the
rear curtain to the car body. When completed, make sure that the front
bow is locked to the windshield.
Step 3
Tack the curtain to the rear bow. Stretch out all of the wrinkles as you
tack.
Note:
It is the stretch from side to side that smoothes out the flexible
plastic and not the direct up-pull. When the rear curtain is free of
wrinkles and securely tacked to the rear bow, trim off the excess
material. Stretch the quarter webbing taut and tack it to the rear bow
between the marks previously made. You are now ready to install the new
top.
